Clams, Scallops and Chili. Oh My!

Friday was a cook’s day for sure, since the wind was too high we really couldn’t film so cooking looked like the best option. Katherine and Ayla made Chili for the chili cook of, by the way Ayla won the most unusual chili and I think for a 13 year old most unusual chili is probably the best thing you can win, I know it would make my day! Ayla made a vegetarian chili, while Katherine made a Southwestern Texas chili. During the big chili cook of on the boat we did various projects and ran some errands. A few great purchases were made at the local shops such as new rain gear for Tom, a nice stylish Helly Hanson rain coat at the local out fitters shop in Shellburne. (you will see him sporting this new gear throughout the trip) David was lucky enough to get to the local hardware store for some rubber insulating tape to seal up a leak in his lazzeret on the boat. Gary Purchased a full on rain coat and trouser entourage at the local fishing shop where you could buy everything from lobster plugs to shucking knives to all weather clothing for the northern fisher man. (Now I know why gay marriage is legal in Canada)
The fish shop was another special experience. If we didn’t have the right change or we were short a few dollars the owner said not to worry about it. I thought that we purchased enough clams to feed 10 people, but Gary did his best to eat them all. The scallops were a special treat for Tom. The cook, Gary, did his magic and made them the best ever. Our trip back to the campground was slow. There were four other cars on the road for at least half way back. Of course we talked to the campground manager to find out about all of the area activities. It didn’t take long. We have a very strong wind in the area and we even took the trailer awning down to keep from blowing away. It’s cold here, but no rain.
Last night after dinner we plotted our course for the next few days… We are in for a wild ride! stay tuned.
The radio here is great we are listening the CKBW in Liverpool Nova Scotia the south shores station of choice… um it’s the only station……
Other interesting items here on the south shore of Nova Scotia: Sobeys – the grocery store, and the tax here is 13% plus and a lobster license allows you to have up to 250 lobster pots. They are filming the movie Moby Dick in Shellburn and Lunenburg to be released in 2011
Were off for filming in Shellburne again today, we also have a few other special stops along the way today.

You are making me hungry!!! Sounds like a totally gastronomic vacation! Can't wait to see you guys model your new rain garb. Give our best to Three@Sea please, and keep the posts coming for those of us left behind!
